Principal Structural Engineer - Brownfield Baku

Working Pattern: Employee Fixed Term Contract / Full Time 

As the Principal Structural Engineer, you will:

• Be a citizen of Azerbaijan
• Assist the Lead Engineer co-ordinate a team of engineers and work tasks to achieve required plan dates or be a senior / principal engineer looking for a step up in their career.
• Manage team budgets, produce scope estimates and recognising and controlling scope change.
• Have worked in offshore and onshore oil & gas business but similar transferrable industries skills will be also considered in leu of specific O&G experience.
• Be technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
• Liaise closely with other disciplines to ensure all equipment requirements are addressed in the design, specification of equipment, construction sequencing and commissioning.
• Provide value adding knowledge to constructability reviews and take consideration of layout restrictions, ergonomics, safety, utilities and maintainability.
• Coordinate and control vendor document submissions and reviews.
• Generate, check and approve calculations against design codes and best practice.

You’ll have experience of:

• Working in a brownfield environment preferred
• Civils design preferred
• Primary and secondary structural designs, designing lifting arrangements and development of installation routes
• Producing, checking and approving deliverables that conform to all applicable industry engineering codes and standards as well as the client’s policies and procedures relative to the equipment being specified. Sound knowledge of relevant commonly used codes therefore required.
• Producing, checking and approving structural calculations using STAAD, structural arrangement drawings, detail drawings, installation sequence drawings, lifting arrangement drawings and weight control reports.
• Participation in safety studies such as: HAZID and design safety reviews.
• IT Packages such as AutoCAD and Plant 3D would be an advantage, but not essential. Knowledge of Microsoft packages, STAAD and Mathcad is essential.

Qualifications

• BSc or equivalent in relevant Engineering Discipline
• Chartered Engineer status preferred
• Significant, demonstrable experience in Detailed Design Engineering and Engineering Checking
• Detailed understanding of all Engineering disciplines
• Knowledge and understanding of relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards
• Understand the application of Autodesk Design products
• Competent in the use of MS Office applications
