As a Lead Piping Designer, your main duties may include:

  • Aids the project in creating schedules, time assignment and resource allocation.
  • Responsible for ensuring designs meet project requirements.
  • Input to project plans.
  • Identify areas of concern during any project or study.
  • Produce cost- effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value.
  • Ability to address operational and maintenance issues in the design and liaise with colleagues for the best solution.
  • Undertake surveys, both onshore and offshore.
Our Designers can expect to work in a modern environment, based in our Aberdeen or Glasgow office. We offer flexible working on a hybrid basis where 2 days per week can be worked remotely.
 
Role is available on a staff or contractor basis.

About You

Requirements:
  • Experience leading a team of Designers and coordinating work tasks to achieve required plan dates or be a senior / principal designer looking for a step up in their career.
  • Experience in managing design team budgets, Produce scope estimates and recognising and controlling scope change.
  • Creating and maintaining Piping design deliverable list and monitor design team productivity.
  • Experience in providing timely progress /updates to Piping Lead Engineers with respect to design activities/deliverables.
  • Understanding and ability to interpret system Process and Instrument Diagrams.
  • Strong experience performing studies, FEED and detail design of Piping fabrications in an EPC environment or client role is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of the offshore and onshore Oil and Gas business, but similar transferrable industries skills will be also considered in lieu of specific O&G experience.
  • Experience of working in a brownfield environment/projects preferred. 
  • In depth experience of offshore piping lay-out requirements (Design, Safety, Construction and installation and maintenance aspects)
  • In depth experience of offshore safety regulations and construction requirements
  • Having offshore BOSIET, MIST and medical is required for the role with experience of site surveys.
  • Experience in 3D modelling - AutoCAD plant 3D is required.
  • Experience in generating and design checking 3D models (AutocAD plant 3D preferred).
  • Experience in AutoCad, Plant 3D and Recap.
  • In depth Knowledge and understanding of 2D drafting standards,  In depth experience of piping drawings requirements/presentation.
  • Knowledge, understanding of UK statutory requirements such as pressure equipment regulation (PER), PED regulations would be essential for the role.
  • HND in a relevant subject.
  • Offshore Certificates are required for this role.
