About The Role

Role Summary:
 
PD&MS Group are now looking for a Principal / Senior Pipe Stress Engineer to join our Piping Engineering team on a full-time , long-term contract basis. This role can be based in our Aberdeen or Glasgow office on a flexibly hybrid working model.
 
The Senior Pipe Stress Engineer is responsible for performing piping flexibility analysis, reviewing and finalising pipe and support design / layout and the arrangements, code calculations and originate and checking Piping stress deliverables.

Responsibilities:
  •  Implementation of QA/QC procedures as required by Company and Client standards
  • Responsible for performing Piping Stress Analysis (static and dynamic) for A/G and U/G lines and finalising the stress documentation
  • Finalising stress analysis design basis, critical line list, work procedure, data sheets, support specification / standards
  • Review and checking of third-party analysis
  • Responsible for planning and scheduling of Stress Deliverables
  • Qualification of Standard Piping support details including design calculation and verification of loads
  • Finalising Material Requisition, Datasheets and TBE for brought out items (specialty supports, spring hangers etc.)
  • Review and approval of Vendor drawings and documents
  • Review / approval of construction related deliverables submitted by Contractor
  • Co-ordination with Piping Engineers and Designers
  • Co-ordination with other disciplines / departments as required for interfaces 
  • Co-ordination with Piping counterparts in Client/Contractor organisations
  • Site visits and data collection from Client’s offices / plants
  • Attend meetings with Clients/ Contractors/ Vendors
  • Identification of scope of work required to undertake a project / job and estimation of deliverables
  • Input to project plans and schedules
  • Immediate identification to Lead Engineer of any issue that has the potential to cause change or growth to any area of the project or study, in comparison to the original design intent / deliverables required
  • Production of cost effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both PD&MS and the Client  
  • Ensuring operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design, seeking input from operations and maintenance personnel
  • Monitoring progress of work and achieving completion within the agreed schedule and budget 
  • Production and checking of documents and stress analysis engineering design deliverables
  • Review of documents circulated by other disciplines for IDC or comment
  • Attendance at meetings called by Project Manager / Engineer, e.g. kick-off meeting, progress meeting

About You

Qualifications:
  • BSc or equivalent in relevant Engineering Discipline
  • Chartered Engineer status (preferred)
Experience / competence:
  • Significant, demonstrable experience in Stress Analysis Detailed Design Engineering and Engineering Checking
  • Understanding of all Engineering disciplines
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant Oil & Gas Industry Codes and Standards
  • Highly competent in the use of Intergraph Caesar II Pipe Stress Analysis products
  • Understanding of Piping Layout, Materials and Specifications
  • Demonstrable experience in Static and Dynamic Analysis
  • Competent in the use of MS Office applications
  • Experience in managing and developing others
  • Excellent written and spoken English
